Job summary

NI Malaysia Sdn Bhd in Penang seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead electronics packaging from concept to production, defining mechanical architecture, selecting materials, and conducting tolerance, thermal, and structural analyses for reliable test and measurement products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Experience with electronics hardware or industrial products.
• Proficient with CAD/CAE tools such as Creo, SolidWorks, or similar.

Job description

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead electronics packaging from concept through production, define mechanical architecture, select materials and processes, perform tolerance, thermal, and structural analyses, and support verification testing, suppliers, and manufacturing. You will also mentor engineers and improve design practices. You will work with both local and global teams to design a variety of test and measurement products.

• Define the mechanical architecture and select materials, components, and hardware to meet product requirements
• Perform tolerance, thermal, and structural analyses to identify risks and ensure product reliability
• Plan and conduct mechanical testing, analyze results, and improve the design
• Develop specifications for mechanical materials and manufacturing processes
• Qualify and support suppliers to meet manufacturing and quality requirements
• Support manufacturing to resolve issues, improve yield, and maintain product quality
• Work with procurement and suppliers to ensure quality and on-time delivery of mechanical parts
• Provide technical guidance, mentor engineers, and improve mechanical design practices

About you

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design and product development, preferably with electronics hardware or industrial products
• Solid understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, tolerance stack-up, materials, and common manufacturing processes
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks
• Ability to collaborate well in a group environment and solve problems effectively
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing, in a global engineering environment
• Experience using CAD and CAE tools such as Creo, SolidWorks, or similar platforms
• Hands-on experience in thermal testing, designing metal and plastic components, and working with related manufacturing methods
