Job summary

Arup in Malaysia is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services across diverse property projects. You will own design packages, supervise small teams, and collaborate with clients, architects and consultants to deliver high-quality solutions.

You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to technical excellence, and support business development while upholding Arup’s values and standards.

Qualifications

• Recognised tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant mechanical building services experience.
• Strong technical capability in HVAC and mechanical building services for property projects from concept to delivery.
• Ability to own mechanical design packages and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams.
• Proven client and stakeholder management skills; mentor junior engineers.
• Knowledge of local/international codes, standards, and professional progression.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of mechanical building services across a diverse portfolio of property projects. The Opportunity

• Lead the concept and detailed design of mechanical building services across a diverse range of property and building projects.
• Take technical ownership of mechanical design packages, including calculations, drawings, specifications, reports and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Work directly with clients, architects, contractors and consultants to develop practical, coordinated and high-quality engineering solutions.
• Manage mechanical workstreams and small project teams, including planning, resourcing, programme, quality and technical delivery.
• Mentor junior engineers, contribute to technical excellence and support client engagement, proposals and business development activities..

Is this role right for you?

• Recognised tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering with at least 8 years of relevant mechanical building services experience, ideally within an engineering consultancy.
• Strong technical capability in HVAC and associated mechanical building services, with experience delivering property projects from concept through detailed design and delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of mechanical design packages and coordinate effectively across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong client and stakeholder management skills, with experience guiding and reviewing the work of junior engineers and designers.
• Good working knowledge of relevant local and international codes, standards and regulations, with membership of a relevant professional institution or progress towards professional accreditation.
