Job summary

JAC Recruitment is partnering with a precision manufacturing client to recruit a Senior Mechanical Design & Product Engineer in Malaysia. The role focuses on designing high-precision metal components for aerospace, semiconductor equipment, and automation sectors, while driving ECN, PPAP, and cost optimization processes.

Candidates should have a Mechanical Engineering background with 3+ years in product design/NPI within manufacturing, and strong CAD skills (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, UG/NX).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in Engineering Product Design / Product Development / NPI in manufacturing environment; exposure in precision machining would be an added advantage.
• Strong proficiency in CAD software (i.e. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, UG/NX) and interest in mechanical design.
• Familiar with APQP, PFMEA, DFM, DOE, GD&T, 5-Why analysis, and fishbone analysis methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop machining process plans based on technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements, including tooling and fixture design.
• Manage Engineering Change Notice (ECN) activities and coordinate the implementation of product technical changes.
• Prepare cost quotations for new products and evaluate engineering changes that may impact manufacturing costs.
• Prepare and maintain PPAP documentation, including PFMEA and Control Plans, while ensuring control of critical dimensions and special processes.
• Drive process optimization initiatives to improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
• Support CNC programming activities, manufacturing risk assessments, and root-cause analysis for shop-floor technical issues.
• Maintain technical records and provide engineering support to production teams and external suppliers.
