Job summary

JOB DESCRIPTION : SENIOR MANUFACTURING & NPI ENGINEER

Job Objectives

Lead and manage overall packaging design activities.

Lead and drive New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.

Provide manufacturing and assembly engineering support.

Ensure successful transition of new products and packaging designs from development to mass production.

1. New Product Introduction (NPI)

Lead and drive NPI projects throughout the full Product Life Cycle (PLC), ensuring a seamless transition from product development to high-volume manufacturing while meeting quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

Develop build readiness plans and coordinate the execution of engineering, pilot, and ramp builds for new product launches.

Conduct post-mortem reviews after the completion of each build and ensure lessons learned are documented and implemented.

Identify, monitor, and manage project risks through the Risk Register and ensure appropriate mitigation actions are implemented to support a successful product launch.

Participate in design reviews and validation processes for new products.

Liaise with R&D engineers and Contract Manufacturers (CMs) to introduce new product and packaging designs into mass production.

Drive the successful launch of new products and packaging designs into mass production.

2. Packaging Design

Lead packaging design activities and provide packaging solutions by liaising with customers, cross-functional teams, and suppliers.

Develop packaging concepts for new products, including material selection, dimensions, structural design, and product protection requirements.

Research and evaluate packaging materials such as cardboard, plastic, films, labels, and other suitable materials based on product requirements, sustainability, and cost considerations.

Develop packaging prototypes and conduct appropriate testing to ensure designs meet performance and quality requirements.

Evaluate packaging material and design costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality or product protection.

Ensure packaging designs comply with applicable industry requirements related to labelling, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Explore and implement environmentally friendly packaging solutions and sustainable packaging practices.

Participate in technical discussions with customers, stakeholders, suppliers, and internal teams to develop effective packaging solutions.

Launch and implement new packaging designs into mass production.

3. Manufacturing & Assembly Support

Collaborate with production teams to implement packaging designs, troubleshoot packaging-related production issues, and optimize packaging processes.

Work closely with CMs, Quality, and R&D teams to ensure the completion and implementation of relevant manufacturing and quality documentation, including:

• Quality Control Plans
• Process Flow Plans
• Work Instructions
• PFMEA
• CPK
• SPC
• Relevant regulatory certifications

Drive production management and operator training based on packaging instructions and palletization requirements.

Support R&D, Quality Engineering, and CMs in routine applications and continuous improvement activities.

Apply manufacturing engineering principles and techniques to improve production processes and product manufacturability.

Ensure the entire process and relevant technical information are properly documented.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 5–10 years of relevant working experience, preferably in packaging design, NPI, manufacturing engineering, or a related industry.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Able to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong people and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Strong focus on achieving company goals and objectives.
• Ability to present solutions and work independently.
• Able to deliver high-quality work within tight schedules and deadlines.
