Job summary

ADVANCED ASSEMBLY MATERIALS (M) SDN. BHD. seeks an NPI Engineer to bridge design and production, leading leadframe introductions from concept to mass manufacturing. You will influence product quality, yield, and time-to-market through tooling design and process optimization.

You will collaborate across design, tooling, and process engineering, drive FAI, support customer transitions, and manage project timelines and budgets for cost-effective launches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials or related Engineering field.
• 3+ years experience in leadframe manufacturing or precision metal stamping (NPI or project engineering preferred).
• Strong knowledge of tooling design, etching and plating processes, and semiconductor packaging requirements.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and familiarity with SPC tools.
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams.

Job description

As our NPI Engineer, you will be the bridge between product design and full-scale production. You’ll lead the introduction of new leadframe products from concept to mass manufacturing, ensuring every detail—from tooling design to process optimization is executed flawlessly. Your work will directly influence product quality, yield, and time-to-market, making you a key driver of our customers’ success.

Responsibilities :

• Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) projects for leadframe manufacturing, from feasibility study to production ramp-up.
• Collaborate with design, tooling, and process engineering teams to translate customer requirements into manufacturable solutions.
• Develop and validate manufacturing processes, including stamping, etching, post-plating and surface finishing.
• Coordinate FAI builds, analyze trial results, and implement process improvements for yield and quality.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring on-time and cost-effective launches.
• Work closely with customers and suppliers to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth product transitions.
• Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including process flow charts, process recipes, FMEA, and control plans.
• Able and willing to travel occasionally for customer technical discussions, encompassing both on-shore locations within Malaysia and off-shore assignments as required.

Requirements :

• Bachelor or Master degree from a recognized university, preferably in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, or related Engineering field.
• 3+ years of experience in leadframe manufacturing or precision metal stamping (NPI or project engineering experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of tooling design, etching and plating processes, and semiconductor packaging requirements.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) tools.
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams.
• Analytical mindset with a passion for problem-solving and process optimization.
• Strong English communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
