Job summary

Eastspring Investments Berhad in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a senior back/middle office professional to oversee insurance fund operations. You will drive day-to-day administration, manage the team, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.

Responsibilities include KPI-driven monitoring of service providers, SLA adherence, and regional project participation, with a focus on timely issue resolution and robust risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Professional Degree in finance, accountancy, banking, investment, economics or equivalent.
• Internationally recognized accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, etc.) or working towards designation will be an added advantage.
• At least 6 years of working experience in the financial services industry such as fund accounting, asset management, insurance or banking.
• At least 3 years of working experience in a supervisory and managerial role.
• Knowledge in financial instruments and investment products.
• Knowledge in accounting standards and controls environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring that the day-to-day operations of Insurance Clients for back/middle office functions are operating smoothly.
• Managing team members for insurance fund operations.
• Updating HOD on any issues arises or BAU matters.
• Actively engage with service providers to ensure smooth process for BAU.
• Monitor the service standards of the appointed service provider via the relevant KPIs as stipulated in the SLA.
• Ensure compliance to all applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements and guidelines and internal policies and procedures.
• Reviewing annual due diligence document from both PAMB and PBTB.
• Ensuring any issues on BAU for insurance funds are quickly being addressed to HOD.
• Ensure no issue or material finding by fund auditors, AUP auditors, and GWIA auditors.
• Provide coaching to the team members to ensure consistent good performance.
• Promoting and embracing high performance culture with aligning to PruWay.
• Assist team members in resolving issues and challenges and to escape issues when necessary.
• Assisting HOD to conduct regular review of the operating guidelines to ensure it meets the requirements of existing processes and business direction.
• Taking prompt and decisive actions in resolving issues that potentially may result in high-risk exposure if not promptly attended to.
• Assisting HOD for regular review of existing SLAs signed with counterparties that include internal and external parties. Such review should include the services of the Fund Accounting service provider and or other parties that may be engaged when needed.
• Ensure quality of documentation is in accordance to internal standards, policies and guidelines.
• Reviewing annual due diligence document from both PAMB and PBTB.
• Participate in the regional driven project for local business unit.
• Assist HOD or COO to ensure that achievement on project completion within timely manner as well within budget.
• Engaging with various parties, foreign and local counterparts, brokers as well as regional office.
• Assisting HOD to review and update the quarterly Risk Register.
• Ensuring that the Monthly Investment Back Office Operations Certificates to Insurance Clients are accurately prepared.
• Develop and recommend areas for enhancements and improvements for the current processes to meet the challenges and needs of internal and external stakeholders.
• Review and approve User Acceptance Testing (“UAT”) performed by team members if any.
