Job summary

Tentacle Tech, an IT and software development consulting company, seeks an experienced Software Developer to join its finance-sector team in an onsite contract role in Malaysia. You will design, develop, and maintain critical components and translate business requirements into robust Java-based solutions.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of tech experience, with 5+ years in hands-on roles, strong Java/J2SE expertise, and a background in banking/financial domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 7+ years of technology experience, including 5+ years in hands-on technical roles.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Java/J2SE (compulsory) with knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, socket programming, Java threads, and SOAP architecture.
• Experience with JSON development, Windows batch scripting, Oracle WebLogic, Apache Tomcat, and SQL Server 2022; exposure to DotNet is an advantage.
• Sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills.
• Excellent English communication skills, with ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Prior experience in the banking or financial domain is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Define development objectives by analyzing user requirements and envisioning system features.
• Design and develop application components, setting priorities throughout the development lifecycle.
• Determine appropriate design methodologies, tools, and programming languages to deliver solutions.
• Evaluate development vs. purchase options to recommend system solutions.
• Coordinate requirements, schedules, and activities to complete development tasks.
• Troubleshoot development and production issues across environments and platforms.
• Support end users with clear documentation and help tools.
