Job summary

SPCI HELM Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. invites an experienced Instrumentation Engineer to join our control system design team.

You will lead instrument selection, study improvements, review documents from consultants/vendors, and support field calibration and testing across plant operations. The role requires a degree in Control/Automation/Instrumentation with 5+ years in relevant industries, strong PLC/DCS knowledge, and solid SHEQ leadership.

Qualifications

Engineering degree in control, automation or instrumentation required.
Minimum 5 years in design of instrument and control systems in chemical/manufacturing.
PLC/DCS programming experience is an advantage.
Strong SHEQ knowledge and ability to enforce requirements.
Leadership to interact with all levels and exercise independent judgment.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
Knowledge of instrumentation standards and regulations.
Ability to read P&IDs, single line diagrams, ladder logic and schematics.

Responsibilities

Instrument type selection and specification preparation.
Analyze potential improvements to instrument and control systems.
Review documents from consultants, contractors or vendors.
Supervise technicians in field calibration, loop checking, testing and configuration of instruments.
Provide technical support for PLC/DCS I/O systems and industrial networks.
Prepare cost estimates and I&C budgets for CAPEX projects.
Prepare RFQ documents and evaluate contractor/vendor quotes.
Attend equipment inspections and factory acceptance tests.
Create SOPs and equipment operation manuals.
Support operations during plant start-up and commissioning.
Participate in hazard studies such as HAZOPs.
