Job summary

Johnson Matthey is hiring a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, and manage virtualization platforms across VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, and Azure Local. You will maintain Windows and Linux systems, perform patches and capacity planning, and ensure data centre reliability.

You will work with network and security teams, document configurations, and participate in on-call incident response to support critical production environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on IT infrastructure experience with deep expertise in virtualization and platform administration across VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Windows Server 2016/2019/2022/2025 experience with cross‑platform Linux support (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu).
• Strong proficiency in scripting/automation, preferably PowerShell, to improve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper‑V, Azure Local) including cluster configuration and VM lifecycle.
• Maintain Windows/Linux systems with patching, upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning for compute platforms.
• Oversee data centre operations including physical servers, racks, SAN/NAS storage and backups to ensure availability.
• Monitor and troubleshoot performance and availability across virtual/physical environments with security baselines.
• Collaborate with network, security, and application teams; maintain documentation; participate in on-call rotations.
