Johnson Matthey Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer in Malaysia to drive virtualization and enterprise infrastructure. You will design, implement, and manage VMware vSphere, Hyper‑V, and Azure Local, while maintaining Windows/Linux servers, storage, and DR capabilities.
The role requires 5+ years of hands‑on IT infrastructure experience, strong automation skills, and cross‑functional collaboration.

Please note that this is a 1-year renewable contract position and candidates must currently be based in Malaysia with valid work rights as work visa sponsorship will not be provided.
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will help drive our goals by:
Design, implement, and manage virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper‑V, Azure Local), covering cluster configuration, VM lifecycle, host management, and storage integration.
Maintain and support Windows and/or Linux systems, including patching, tuning, configuration, and executing upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning for compute platforms.
Oversee data centre operations and enterprise infrastructure, including physical servers, racks, environmental checks, SAN/NAS storage, and backup/DR systems to ensure availability and business continuity.
Monitor and troubleshoot performance and availability issues across virtual and physical environments, ensuring compliance with security baselines and operational standards.
Collaborate cross-functionally with network, security, and application teams, maintain accurate documentation, and participate in on‑call rotations for critical incident response.
Able to commit to a one-year contract (renewable)
Comfortable to work in an APAC & EMEA shift model
5+ years of hands‑on IT infrastructure experience with deep expertise in virtualization and platform administration across VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper‑V, including clustered deployments and VM lifecycle management.
Strong proficiency in Windows Server platforms (2016/2019/2022,2025), with additional experience in Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) for cross‑platform support.
Skilled in scripting and automation, preferably using PowerShell, to enhance operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Solid understanding of enterprise storage systems (SAN/NAS) and virtualization networking concepts (VLANs, vSwitches, distributed switches).
Experienced in infrastructure monitoring and troubleshooting, using tools like vROps, SolarWinds, with strong analytical skills for managing production environments.
VMware VCP certification or Microsoft Certified
Familiarity with Azure Local (HCI), VMware Solution, or hybrid cloud infrastructures.
Experience in backup and replication tools like Veeam.
Exposure to infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
Experience supporting enterprise patching, WSUS/SCCM, Azure Update Manager or vulnerability management tools.
