Job summary

Federal Furniture (1982) Sdn. Bhd. is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to grow our pipeline in interior fit-out and FF&E for hospitality clients in Malaysia.

You will build lasting relationships with hotel owners, operators, developers, designers, and procurement teams, driving opportunities from tender through contract award. The role requires a minimum of 5 years in BD/sales within related sectors, strong negotiation skills, and willingness to travel for client meetings,

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of business development or sales experience, ideally within interior fit-out, FF&E, construction or hospitality-related industries.
• Proven track record of winning projects and managing client relationships at a senior level (hotel owners, developers, consultants or main contractors).
• Understanding of the hotel fit-out/FF&E project lifecycle from tender through contract award.
• Familiarity with Malaysian construction industry practices and standard contract forms (e.g., PAM) is an advantage.
• Strong negotiation, presentation and relationship-management skills.
• Self-driven, target-oriented, and comfortable managing a long sales cycle typical of hospitality capital projects.
• Willingness to travel for client meetings, site visits and industry events.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Interior Design, Construction Management or any related field.
• Candidates at both Assistant Manager and Manager levels are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in hotel/resort interior fit-out and FF&E supply.
• Build and maintain relationships with hotel developers, hotel operators/brands, architects, interior designers, and main contractors to generate leads and referrals.
• Develop and execute a business development strategy and sales pipeline aligned with company growth targets.
• Prepare and present commercial proposals, working closely with the estimation and contracts team on pricing, scope, and terms.
• Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings to build market presence and brand visibility.
• Track market trends, competitor activity, and upcoming hospitality/hotel development projects in Malaysia and the region.
• Negotiate commercial terms and support the transition from won opportunity to contract award, coordinating with operations, procurement, and project teams for a smooth handover.
• Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities, and pipeline status, and report regularly to senior management.
• Support tender/bid identification and qualification, working with the estimation team on go/no-go decisions.
