Job summary

Altera is seeking an experienced FPGA Development Tools Validation Technical Lead to drive validation strategy and execution for our FPGA development tools. You will lead a team to ensure the quality, performance, and reliability of software tools supporting synthesis, place and route, timing analysis, and simulation.

You will define comprehensive validation strategies, mentor engineers, collaborate with internal teams, and present status to management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years in FPGA development, verification, or validation with emphasis on software tools.
• 3+ years in technical leadership or team lead role.
• Strong understanding of FPGA architectures, design flows RTL to bitstream, and validation methodologies.
• Proven expertise using FPGA development tools from major vendors (Altera/Intel, Xilinx/AMD).
• Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Tcl.
• Experience with automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of validation engineers, providing technical guidance.
• Define and implement validation strategies, test plans, and methodologies for FPGA tools (synthesis, P&R, timing analysis, simulation).
• Collaborate with software, architecture, and product marketing to ensure test coverage.
• Oversee design and maintenance of advanced test environments, benches, and automation.
• Drive continuous improvement in validation processes and tools.
• Analyze complex issues, debug, and provide reports and recommendations.
• Stay abreast of industry trends in FPGA validation and software development.
• Present validation status and risks to stakeholders.
