Job summary

Altera is seeking a Firmware Validation Engineer to validate FPGA-based embedded systems, firmware, drivers, and platform functionality from pre- to post-silicon stages. You will collaborate with firmware, hardware, software and validation teams to design tests that reflect real customer usage and ensure product reliability.

You will gain hands-on experience with FPGA platforms, embedded software validation, automation, and platform-level testing within the Altera Software and IP Solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or CS.
• 3–5 years of experience in software, firmware, embedded systems, or validation.
• Strong understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, SoCs, and firmware concepts.
• Experience with Python scripting and C/C++ programming.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux OS and version control tooling.

Responsibilities

• Execute validation plans for firmware, platform, and system-level functions.
• Review requirements to understand expected behavior and verify against tests.
• Develop and maintain test procedures and docs; design automation with guidance.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, stress, and negative testing.
• Validate customer workflows and platform software interactions across Windows/Linux.
• Collect logs and support root cause analysis with multiple teams.
