Job summary

Tong Hing Supermarket Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Finance professional to support financial reporting, month-end and year-end closings, and reconciliations. You will maintain the Fixed Asset Register, assist with audits, and drive process improvements in a fast-paced retail environment.

The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Diploma in Accountancy plus at least 5 years in a similar retail finance position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance / Diploma in Accountancy or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in retail or supermarket.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, and control accounts.
• Hands-on experience with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Proficiency in accounting software; AutoCOUNT experience is an advantage.
• Knowledge of Malaysian tax regulations and compliance requirements.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision; strong analytical and communication skills.
• Team-oriented with leadership qualities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
• Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
• Prepare financial schedules and management reports for decision-making.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of control accounts, including bank, AP/AR, inventory, FAR, intercompany, and GL.
• Maintain and monitor the Fixed Asset Register; review depreciation and asset movements.
• Support audit activities; provide documentation and address findings.
• Assist in strengthening internal controls and process improvements; automate reconciliations.
• Contribute to budgeting/forecasting and supply financial data for business decisions.
