Hong Leong Yamaha Motor Sdn Bhd seeks an experienced professional to identify and develop new spare parts and accessories, aligned with market trends, dealer feedback, and brand requirements. You will lead end-to-end development, coordinate with internal teams and suppliers, and monitor timelines to ensure successful launches.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's or Diploma in relevant disciplines and 5–8 years in NPD/Product Management, preferably in automotive aftermarket or related sectors.
Identify and evaluate opportunities for new spare parts, accessories, and locally developed products based on market trends, customer needs, dealer feedback, and business potential.
Lead and coordinate the end-to-end development of new products from initial concept, feasibility assessment, sourcing, product evaluation, and approval through to commercial launch.
Work closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, dealers, and Yamaha Motor Company to ensure products meet technical, quality, commercial, and brand requirements.
Monitor product development timelines and ensure new products are launched according to agreed schedules.
Prepare and maintain product development plans, progress updates, and management reports.
Monitor sales performance, profitability, market acceptance, and product competitiveness.
Analyse product performance and recommend appropriate actions, including product enhancement, replacement, repositioning, or discontinuation.
Identify gaps within the existing product portfolio and recommend opportunities to expand the Yamaha Genuine Parts and accessories range.
Conduct market and competitor analysis to identify emerging trends, pricing movements, and new product opportunities.
Evaluate the commercial feasibility of new products, including cost, pricing, margin, demand, and potential market size.
Recommend appropriate retail pricing and margin structures for new and existing products.
Identify potential business opportunities through market research, dealer feedback, customer insights, and competitor benchmarking.
Support business cases and management proposals for new product development initiatives.
Identify, evaluate, and develop potential suppliers for accessories, spare parts, and locally developed products.
Coordinate supplier sourcing, quotation evaluation, product samples, and commercial negotiations where required.
Work with suppliers to ensure products meet agreed quality, cost, delivery, and specification requirements.
Monitor supplier performance and address issues that may impact product development or launch timelines.
Manage matters relating to Yamaha trademarks, logos, product names, packaging, and brand usage within the spare parts and accessories business.
Maintain accurate records and databases relating to trademarks, intellectual property, and product registrations.
Monitor potential infringement, unauthorized use, and counterfeit Yamaha Genuine Parts and accessories.
Coordinate with Yamaha Motor Company, Legal, relevant enforcement authorities, and other stakeholders on intellectual property and infringement cases.
Support enforcement initiatives and provide relevant documentation and information for investigation and follow-up actions.
Coordinate cross-functional activities required for successful product launches.
Ensure product information, pricing, packaging, marketing materials, and distribution requirements are ready before launch.
Monitor post-launch performance and gather feedback from dealers and customers.
Identify and address issues affecting product acceptance, sales performance, or profitability.
Prepare regular reports on new product development, launch progress, sales performance, profitability, and IP-related activities.
Track key project milestones and highlight potential risks or delays to management.
Recommend improvements to product development processes and commercial strategies.
Maintain proper documentation and records for product development and IP activities.
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Business Development, Supply Chain, Product Management, Engineering, or related disciplines.
Preferably 5–8 years of relevant experience in New Product Development / Product Management
Experience managing product development from concept to commercial launch would be an advantage.
Experience in the automotive aftermarket, motorcycle parts, accessories, or FMCG/product development environment would be highly relevant.
