Job summary

Sunway Medical Centre Velocity is seeking a Senior Executive, Infection Control to lead hospital-wide infection control programmes and ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

You will support surveillance, audits, policies, and antimicrobial stewardship while liaising with HIACC and external bodies to meet MSQH, JCI and ACHS accreditation requirements.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in nursing and registration with Malaysia Nursing Board.
• Post Basic qualification in Infection Control.
• Annual Practising Certificate is valid.
• 3+ years' experience as a Registered Nurse and 2+ years in Infection Control.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement hospital-wide infection control programmes, including surveillance, reporting and investigations.
• Participate in antimicrobial stewardship initiatives.
• Develop and review infection control policies and procedures.
• Conduct hospital-wide infection control audits and improvements.
• Monitor infections and isolation practices; support RCA and corrective actions.
• Liaise with government bodies and HIACC; prepare data and reports.
• Support quality/risk management and accreditation (MSQH, JCI, ACHS).
• Provide infection control education and drills; communicate guidance.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Executive, Infection Control to support the planning and implementation of hospital-wide infection control programmes and help maintain a safe environment for both patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Support the planning and implementation of hospital-wide infection control programmes, including infection control precautions, surveillance, reporting and investigations.

Participate in antimicrobial stewardship initiatives.

Develop, review and implement infection control policies and procedures in line with statutory and accreditation requirements.

Conduct hospital-wide infection control audits and recommend improvements.

Monitor healthcare-associated infections, communicable diseases and isolation practices.

Investigate infection control incidents and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Monitor and analyse infection control quality indicators, trends and patterns.

Liaise with relevant government bodies and external agencies on infection control matters.

Support the Hospital Infection & Antibiotic Control Committee (HIACC), including preparation of data, reports and follow-up actions.

Contribute to quality and risk management initiatives and accreditation programmes, including MSQH, JCI and ACHS.

Support pandemic and epidemic preparedness, including communicating current CDC and Ministry of Health guidance and facilitating pandemic drills.

Provide infection control orientation, education and ongoing communication to relevant staff.

What We're Looking For

Diploma or Degree in Nursing.

Registered with the Malaysian Nursing Board.

Valid Annual Practising Certificate.

Post Basic qualification in Infection Control.

More than 3 years' experience as a Registered Nurse.

More than 2 years' experience in an Infection Control department.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Strong organisational, communication and analytical skills.

Able to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders.
