Job summary

Sunway Medical Centre is seeking a senior Infection Prevention and Control lead to head the IPC program, ensuring patient, staff, and visitor safety. The role oversees surveillance of Healthcare-Associated Infections and analyzes trends for preventive action.

You will develop policies, report to the Infection Control Committee, and drive hospital-wide infection reduction strategies in collaboration with clinicians and infection disease specialists.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent and registered with Malaysian Medical Council.
• Malaysian citizen.

Responsibilities

• Lead the IPC program to ensure patient, staff, and visitor safety.
• Oversee HCAI surveillance and analyze infection trends.
• Develop and monitor infection control policies compliant with MOH/WHO/CDC and accreditation standards.
• Present monthly and quarterly HCAI surveillance reports to the Infection Control Committee and clinical departments.
• Lead implementation of infection prevention bundles and hospital-wide reduction strategies.
• Collaborate with clinicians, nurses, and infectious disease specialists.
• Lead outbreak investigations and containment, including contact tracing.
• Conduct Infection Control Risk Assessments for renovation and construction projects.
• Maintain infection control risk registers and mitigation strategies.
• Deliver infection control education and training for staff.
• Conduct audits and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Lead environmental and microbiological surveillance and interpret findings for action.
• Drive quality improvement initiatives to reduce infection risks and improve patient safety.
• Support administrative and committee reporting and documentation.

• Develop, implement, and monitor infection control policies and procedures in compliance with MOH, WHO, CDC, and accreditation standards.
• Prepare and present monthly and quarterly HCAI surveillance reports to Infection Control Committee and clinical departments.
• Lead implementation of infection prevention bundles and hospital-wide infection reduction strategies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including clinicians, nurses, and infectious disease specialists.
• Lead outbreak investigation, response, and containment, including contact tracing when required.

Job Requirements

• Must be a Malaysian Citizen.
• MBBS or equivalent.
• Has valid Annual Practicing License and must be registered under Malaysian Medical Council.
• Minimum 7 to 10 years of working experience in healthcare setting.
• At least up to 5 years in an increasingly responsible leadership role in Infection Control.
• Strong knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control principles, practices, and guidelines.
• Candidate with Asia Pacific Infection Control Certificate will be an added advantage.
