Sunway Medical Centre Sdn Bhd is seeking a highly experienced Biomedical Engineering Manager to lead the Biomedical Engineering team and ensure safety, reliability, and compliance of all hospital medical equipment.
You will oversee lifecycle management, CMMS documentation, calibration schedules, and coordination with procurement and regulatory bodies to maintain world-class healthcare standards.
Sunway Medical Centre is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Biomedical Engineering Manager to lead our Biomedical Engineering team.
In this critical role, you will ensure the safety, reliability, compliance, and optimal performance of all medical equipment across the hospital, directly contributing to patient safety and world-class quality healthcare delivery.
Lifecycle Management: Lead in-house and outsourced biomedical engineering services, including repairs, preventive maintenance (PPM), testing, and commissioning.
CMMS & Documentation: Implement effective systems to ensure timely completion of testing and commissioning, updating all information into the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Medical Gas Systems: Implement an effective system to maintain and manage the hospital medical gas system.
Uptime & Reliability: Monitor equipment uptime and minimise downtime through robust maintenance programmes to ensure equipment is safe and fit for use by patients, doctors, and staff.
Accreditation Standards: Ensure effective implementation of JCI, ACHS, and MSQH standards with regards to biomedical equipment.
Statutory Compliance: Ensure compliance with the Medical Devices Act, Occupational Safety & Health (OSHA) requirements, and MOH guidelines.
Policy Development: Develop and implement SOPs, policies, and procedures for biomedical equipment management.
Safety Protocols: Take reasonable care for the safety and health of yourself and others who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.
Risk Mitigation: Monitor the safety and condition of biomedical equipment and coordinate appropriate action for equipment deemed unsafe.
Recall Management: Liaise with relevant regulatory bodies on medical equipment recalls and safety concerns.
Calibration: Oversee calibration and testing schedules to ensure equipment is properly evaluated and safe for use prior to installation.
Contract Negotiations: Work closely with Procurement on service contract negotiations and renewals.
Vendor Monitoring: Monitor external vendors and subcontractors performing equipment maintenance and repairs to ensure timelines are met.
Training: Coordinate with vendors to provide technical training for biomedical engineering staff and end-users.
People Management: Provide technical guidance and opportunities for skill development to personnel within the department.
Coaching & Mentoring: Coach and mentor the department's team personnel in their professional development, helping them set goals and provide support towards achieving those goals.
Collaboration: Foster effective collaboration with clinical, engineering, procurement, and other hospital departments.
Resource Management: Manage departmental resources and ensure cost-effective maintenance of biomedical equipment.
Quality Improvement: Responsible to be involved in and contribute to all quality improvement activities of the department and the hospital.
Professional Conduct: Administer professionalism and ethics, and advocate hospital rules and regulations to address patient problems while abiding by MOH guidelines.
Education: Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, or Instrumentation.
Experience: 8 to 10 years of experience in biomedical engineering or a related industry.
Leadership Experience: Preferably with leadership experience in the implementation of JCI, ACHS, and MSQH standards.
Technical Skills:
Excellent knowledge in repair, preventive maintenance, testing, and commissioning methodologies and instruments; or availability of such resources/services.
Strong understanding of hospital rules, regulations, and professional ethics.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment with strong attention to detail.
