Job summary

FARMIERA GROUP OF COMPANIES is seeking a proactive HSE professional to implement and monitor OSH policies across farm locations in Malaysia. You will provide guidance on safety issues such as noise and machine safety, conduct risk assessments (HIRARC), and ensure compliance with DOSH/JKKP requirements.

The role requires 5+ years in HSE/OSH, familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, and the ability to travel between multiple farm sites.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in OSH or related field.
• Registered SHO with DOSH/JKKP preferred.
• OSH certifications such as OSH Coordinator, First Aid, Fire Safety advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor OSH policies and SHE programs.
• Provide instruction on safety issues (WAH, noise, machine safety) to ensure a safe working environment.
• Assist in conducting risk assessments (HIRARC) and enforce mitigations.
• Assist in monitoring changes in legislation to ensure compliance.
• Conduct inspections to identify unsafe conditions and noncompliance, proposing corrective actions.
• Create safety awareness and conduct safety training for workers, ERT, contractors and visitors.
• Oversee safety-related installations, maintenance and disposal processes at the farm.
• Propose solutions to improve safety standards based on observations and monitoring.
• Prepare reports and analyses of workplace inspections to identify trends and events.
• Monitor environment issues (water sampling, effluent, waste) to identify root causes and mitigations.

Job description

1. Implement and monitor OSH policies and SHE programs to ensure outcomes are achieved at the target level planned.

2. Provide instruction and advice on numerous safety issues (WAH, noise, machine safety) as required to ensure safe working environment.

3. Assist in conducting risk assessments for HIRARC and enforce the recommended mitigation action to manage the risks identified.

4. Assist in monitoring changes in measures and updating the legislation to ensure all policies are compliant to prevailing / current laws.

5. Conduct inspections of workplace and premises to identify unsafe conditions or noncompliance. Intervene, take and/or propose steps to prevent such situations.

6. Assist to create safety awareness and conduct safety training (e.g.: worker, ERT, contractor, visitor) to ensure the safety culture is adopted in the business.

7. Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substance etc. to ensure safety of the workplace, workforce and environment.

8. Intervene and propose any possible solution options that can improve the safety standards based on observation and/or monitoring.

9. Prepare report and analyses workplace inspection finding from PIC to identify trends and/or sequence of events that can lead towards unsafe act.

10. Assist in monitoring and reporting environment issues (e.g.: water sampling, water effluent, water treatment, schedule waste management) to facilitate identification of root cause and mitigation actions required to address the concerns identified.

11. Overseeing subordinates in the day-to-day safety management at the farm.

Education & Professional Qualification

Minimum Diploma/Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health, Environmental Management, Engineering, or related field.

Preferably a registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with DOSH/JKKP, where the position falls under the applicable legal requirements.

Possession of relevant OSH certifications such as OSH Coordinator, First Aid, Fire Safety, Chemical Handling, or other recognized HSE training is an advantage.

Experience

Minimum 5 years of working experience in HSE/OSH, preferably in agriculture, poultry farming, manufacturing, construction, or other high-risk industries.

Fresh graduates may be considered if they possess relevant qualifications and strong interest in HSE.

Experience conducting workplace inspections, risk assessments (HIRARC), incident investigations, toolbox meetings and safety training is preferred.

Technical Knowledge

Good knowledge of Malaysian Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) legislation and DOSH/JKKP requirements.

Knowledge of HIRARC, chemical safety, scheduled waste management, PPE, emergency response, fire safety and environmental controls.

Able to prepare and maintain HSE documentation, inspection reports, training records and corrective-action records.

Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 is an advantage.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Able to conduct safety briefings and training for local and foreign workers.

Strong observation and problem-solving skills.

Able to work independently and conduct regular inspections at farm sites.

Computer literate, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Willing to travel between multiple farm locations when required.

Able to communicate effectively in Bahasa Malaysia and English; additional languages are an advantage.
