Terberg Manufacturing & Assembly Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Executive in Engineering to own outsourced cabin and chassis fabrication, ensuring product quality, dimensional accuracy and on-time delivery.
You will interpret drawings, release fabrication and welding documents, coordinate with Production Planning, Purchasing and suppliers, and provide technical support to resolve fabrication issues while visiting supplier facilities as needed.
Responsible for technical ownership of outsourced cabin and chassis fabrication activities to ensure product quality, dimensional accuracy and on-time delivery.
Interpret and understand complete cabin structure, chassis structure, fabrication drawings and individual part drawings.
Prepare, review and release fabrication drawings, welding drawings, manufacturing documents and engineering data for suppliers.
Coordinate closely with Production Planning, Purchasing, Quality Assurance and external suppliers to ensure fabrication schedules are achieved.
Provide technical support to suppliers by resolving fabrication, fitting, welding and assembly issues during production.
Conduct regular supplier site visits to monitor fabrication progress, verify manufacturing processes and ensure compliance with engineering requirements. Domestic travel will be required.
Review supplier fabrication methods and recommend process improvements to improve quality, productivity and manufacturing efficiency.
Support Engineering Change Notice (ECN), drawing revisions and document control to ensure suppliers always manufacture using the latest engineering data.
Ensure all engineering documentation, fabrication records and supplier technical information are maintained accurately.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in machinery manufacturing, metal fabrication, welding or steel structure industries. Experience in automotive or heavy vehicle manufacturing will be an added advantage.
Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, fabrication drawings, welding symbols, GD&T and assembly drawings.
Familiar with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or other CAD software.
Strong understanding of fabrication processes, dimensional control and manufacturing practices.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve technical issues independently.
Good communication and coordination skills with internal departments and external suppliers.
Willing to travel frequently to supplier manufacturing facilities for technical support and production follow-up.
Able to work under pressure and manage multiple supplier projects simultaneously.
WHAT MAKES YOU OUTSTAND
Strong knowledge of steel materials, mechanical properties and fabrication standards.
Experience in welding processes including MIG and FCAW.
Good understanding of sheet metal fabrication, structural fabrication, machining, bending, laser cutting and CNC manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of fabrication fixtures, jigs, tolerance stack-up and dimensional inspection.
Familiar with welding symbols in accordance with AWS A2.4, with basic knowledge of WPS, PQR and structural steel welding requirements.
Experience in supplier development, supplier technical auditing and process validation.
Knowledge of machinery structures, chassis, cabin and fabricated steel assemblies. Experience in automotive or heavy vehicle manufacturing will be an added advantage.
Experience with ERP system, BOM maintenance and Engineering Change Management will be an added advantage.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and other continuous improvement methodologies will be an added advantage.
