Job summary

Private Advertiser in Malaysia is seeking a senior geologist to lead geological exploration and evaluation across multiple mining sites, with a focus on gold resources. You will conduct field mapping, sampling, drilling coordination and data interpretation to identify viable deposits.

The role requires at least five years in geological exploration, strong reporting skills, and the ability to work independently with contractors and authorities, with travel to overseas sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Geology, Earth Science or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in geological exploration or mining.
• Relevant experience in gold exploration and mining is essential.
• Strong knowledge of geological exploration, field mapping, sampling, core logging, drilling and mineral resource evaluation.
• Proficient in relevant geological mapping, data analysis and modelling software.
• Good understanding of exploration processes, mineral resource assessment and regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical reporting skills.
• Able to work independently and effectively with internal teams, consultants, contractors and relevant authorities.
• Able to manage and coordinate activities across multiple project sites simultaneously.
• Willing to travel and be stationed at project sites in Malaysia and overseas.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geological exploration activities including field mapping, sampling, surveys and site investigations.
• Analyse geological data, core samples and laboratory results to identify and evaluate potential gold and other mineral resources.
• Conduct and coordinate exploration drilling activities, including core logging, sampling and geological interpretation.
• Identify and evaluate greenfield exploration opportunities and support the assessment of new mining projects.
• Evaluate mineral resources/reserves and prepare geological findings, reports and recommendations for Management.
• Support project appraisal, feasibility assessment and exploration planning for existing and potential mining projects.
• Maintain accurate geological data, maps, exploration records and technical documentation.
• Liaise with relevant authorities on permits, licences and approvals required for exploration activities.
• Coordinate with consultants, laboratories, drilling contractors and other external parties involved in exploration projects.
• Ensure exploration activities comply with relevant safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Support and coordinate exploration activities across multiple mining sites in Malaysia and overseas.
