Job summary

HENGYUAN REFINING COMPANY BERHAD in Port Dickson seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to support reliability, integrity, and availability of refinery electrical systems and installations. Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in a large industrial plant.
• Registered Graduate Engineer with BEM and progressing toward Professional Engineer status.
• Strong knowledge of Electrical Safety and Malaysian regulations (Electricity Act 1990, Electricity Regulations 1994).
• Experience with hazardous area classification and Ex (Explosion-Protected) equipment.
• Familiar with IEC, BS, IP, DEP standards.

Responsibilities

• Review and optimize maintenance strategies for reliability of electrical equipment.
• Develop and maintain maintenance and inspection programs including RCM initiatives.
• Monitor equipment performance, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis and defect elimination studies.
• Lead Asset Reliability Teams and support Major Turnaround initiatives.
• Supervise operation and maintenance of electrical equipment per HSSE standards.
• Review electrical drawings and provide technical recommendations for projects.
• Support engineering projects, turnarounds, and procurement with technical evaluations.
• Act as Contract Site Representative to monitor contractor performance.
• Participate in the 24-hour on-call duty roster.
• Promote Electrical Safety Rules and HSSE culture through coaching and safety initiatives.

Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering Department. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise and support initiatives that enhance the reliability, integrity, and availability of refinery electrical systems and installations. You will play a key role in supporting asset management strategies, reliability improvement programs, and engineering projects while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and HSSE standards.

Key Responsibilities

Review and enhance maintenance strategies to optimize the reliability and integrity of electrical equipment through preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.

Develop and maintain maintenance and inspection programs for electrical systems and support Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) initiatives.

Monitor electrical equipment performance, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions.

Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and defect elimination studies to improve equipment reliability.

Participate in or lead Asset Reliability Teams (ART) and Multi-Discipline Reliability Teams (MDRT) to drive reliability improvements and support Major Turnaround (MTA) initiatives.

Supervise the operation and maintenance of electrical equipment in compliance with technical, safety, and statutory requirements.

Review electrical engineering drawings and provide technical recommendations for projects and modifications.

Support engineering projects, turnaround activities, and procurement processes, including technical evaluations.

Act as Contract Site Representative to monitor contractor performance and ensure contract deliverables are achieved.

Participate in the 24-hour on-call duty roster as scheduled.

Promote Electrical Safety Rules and a strong HSSE culture through coaching, knowledge sharing, and safety initiatives.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree (Honours) in Electrical Engineering.

Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in a large industrial plant, preferably in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Refinery industry.

Registered as a Graduate Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and working towards obtaining Professional Engineer (PEng) status.

Strong knowledge of Electrical Safety requirements and Malaysian statutory regulations, including the Electricity Act 1990 and Electricity Regulations 1994.

Experience or knowledge in hazardous area classification and the selection, installation, and maintenance of Ex (Explosion-Protected) equipment.

Familiar with international engineering codes and standards, including IEC, BS, IP, and DEP.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple priorities.
