Job summary

Hartalega Holdings Berhad seeks a Senior Engineer - Engineering (Control & Instrumentation) to maintain and enhance PLC, SCADA and instrumentation systems, troubleshooting complex plant issues, and driving reliability improvements in a GMP/ISO environment.

The role requires a Bachelor degree in Electrical/Control/Instrumentation or related field, at least 5 years' experience in engineering or maintenance, and hands-on PLC programming (Siemens, Fatek), SCADA, and AutoCAD expertise, with a passion

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Control and Instrumentation, Mechatronic Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of working experience in engineering/maintenance.
• Proficient in PLC, SCADA, and AutoCAD; experience with Siemens or Fatek PLC preferred.
• Knowledge of Industry 4.0 (IoT/Automation) and GMP.
• Familiar with plant instrumentation standards and maintenance planning.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex PLC, sensors, HMIs, and field instrumentation issues.
• Plan and execute preventive maintenance and calibration for CNI systems.
• Review and optimize control system logic to improve equipment performance and process reliability.
• Lead small-scale automation improvements and software updates to existing control systems.
• Maintain accurate, updated, and traceable documentation for instrumentation and control systems.
• Coordinate work with technicians, vendors, and other departments during shutdowns, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, GMP, and internal quality procedures.
• Keep records of calibration, repairs, and modifications for audits.
• Identify and implement improvements for recurring failures and obsolete components.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians.

Job Purpose

Maintain the stability, reliability, and performance of the plant’s control systems and instrumentation through technical work, troubleshooting, and standardised maintenance practices. Lead improvement initiatives while enforcing company rules, regulations, and ISO 9001/GMP requirements.

Qualification and Experience

3. 3. Programmable Logic Control (PLC), SCADA, AutoCAD.
4. 4. Industry 4.0 (IoT/Automation).
5. 5. Manufacturing technologies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
6. 6. Experience in PLC programming (Siemens, Fatek preferred).
7. 7. Knowledge of sensor wiring, signal troubleshooting, and calibration procedures.
8. 8. Familiar with plant instrumentation standards and preventive maintenance planning.
