Job summary

Reap's embedded finance platform seeks a Staff Engineer/Tech Lead to own architectural direction, drive AI adoption across engineering, and elevate platform capabilities. This role is an IC leadership position focused on delivering scalable, reliable systems and strategic technical direction.

You will partner with Card Engineering Managers to ensure platform initiatives land in product, mentor senior engineers, and shape the technical roadmap for the next era of the platform.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of technical leadership at Staff or Tech Lead level.
• Deep experience in distributed systems, API platform architecture, or financial infrastructure at scale.
• Demonstrated ability to drive large, complex technical initiatives across multiple teams without direct authority.
• Strong systems thinking: fault-tolerance, observability, data consistency, performance at scale.
• Clear and compelling communicator: RFCs, design reviews, and technical direction to engineering and execs.
• Genuine interest in AI/LLM tooling and its application to software engineering workflows.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) and integrating them into workflows.
• Our main stack is TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, and AWS.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical roadmap for the embedded finance platform: scalability, modernization, and debt resolution.
• Lead AI-assisted engineering adoption across Product Engineering teams and build reusable AI tooling and workflows.
• Collaborate with Card Engineering Managers to align platform direction with product delivery and provide hands-on guidance.
• Identify systemic engineering quality issues and build plans to address them.
• Mentor senior engineers and set engineering standards across the Card domain.
