Job summary

Halo Industries in Malaysia is seeking a Senior/Staff EHS Engineer to implement and maintain Environmental, Health and Safety programs at our semiconductor manufacturing facility. The role requires close collaboration with Facilities, Manufacturing, Process & Equipment Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and regulatory authorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety & Health, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years relevant EHS experience in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of Malaysian DOSH, DOE, chemical, scheduled waste, wastewater, and workplace safety requirements.
• Experience in HIRARC, CHRA/USECHH, environmental management, incident investigation, and contractor safety.
• Strong communication, analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently and coordinate with Facilities, Engineering, Manufacturing, contractors, and regulatory authorities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Malaysian EHS laws, regulations, permits, and company standards.
• Coordinate with DOSH/JKKP, DOE/JAS, BOMBA, and other authorities.
• Support regulatory submissions, inspections, licenses, registrations, and corrective actions.
• Maintain EHS legal registers, records, reports, and compliance documentation.
• Manage chemical inventory, SDS, labeling, storage, compatibility, and handling.
• Support CHRA / USECHH requirements and chemical exposure control.
• Assess risks for chemicals, process gases, delivery systems, and storage.
• Ensure engineering controls, PPE, emergency equipment, and spill response arrangements.
• Implement environmental programs for wastewater, waste, air, and storms.
• Support DOE requirements, environmental monitoring, inspections, and submissions.
• Coordinate wastewater sampling and lab testing.
• Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments, safety audits, and monitoring.
• Investigate accidents, near misses, spills, and unsafe conditions.
• Perform root cause analysis and track corrective actions.
• Participate in EHS reviews for new equipment, processes, and facilities.
• Review hazards for high voltage, gases, lasers, radiation, robotics, etc.
• Review safety documentation, EWS, interlocks, PPE, and procedures.
• Manage Permit-to-Work and high-risk activities (LOTO, hot work, confined space, etc).
• Review contractor risk assessments, permits, and competency.
• Conduct contractor orientation and performance monitoring.
• Develop and maintain emergency response procedures and drills.
• Support planning for fire, spills, toxic gas, environmental incidents.
