Job summary

Averis Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead our data engineering team and drive scalable data foundations.

You will design pipelines across on-prem and cloud, build data lakes and warehouses, mentor juniors, and collaborate with stakeholders to enable data-driven decisions.

Job description

As the Senior Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in leading our data engineering team and driving the design, development, and maintenance of scalable, governed data foundations and pipelines. You will work closely with stakeholders, project managers, and cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, translate them into clear technical requirements, and ensure data solutions align with organizational goals and enable data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with stakeholders, project managers, and cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into clear technical requirements, solution designs, and efficient data pipelines.
• Provide technical design and architecture guidance, and design an appropriate modern data stack that supports the organization’s data maturity, data foundation, governance, scalability, and business reporting needs.
• Design and implement robust, scalable, and cost-optimized data foundations and pipelines across on-premise and cloud infrastructure to collect, process, govern, and store data from various sources.
• Build business-relevant data lakes and data warehouses to support management reporting for business end-users and analytics or data science environments for technical end-users.
• Work with cloud infrastructure team who will provision necessary data related infrastructure.
• Lead and mentor junior technical members of the team, enabling professional growth and learning.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a technical leader and practitioner, building and scaling data infrastructure in data engineering and/or data analytics roles and at least 8 years in the industry.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to approach complex business problems in a structured and logical manner.
• Strong familiarity and expertise with the modern data engineering and data visualization technologies.
• Experience with Databricks and its integration with data engineering tasks is a strong plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor a team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
