Job summary

OCNED Water Technology Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia is seeking a Purchasing Executive to source, evaluate and negotiate with suppliers for construction materials, M&E items and process equipment, ensuring on-time delivery and adherence to budget and specs.

You will collaborate with project managers, site engineers and quantity surveyors, issue POs, prepare monthly procurement reports, maintain supplier records, and uphold ISO9001:2015 quality practices across procurement activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, chemical engineering, quantity surveying, engineering, management, or similar.
• Diploma or Degree in engineering, business, or other related fields.
• 5 years' experience in construction, M&E, or civil engineering industry.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings and equipment datasheets (e.g., pumps, blower, valves, instrumentation).
• Self-motivated, diligent with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask under tight deadlines.
• Good networking ability.
• Possess computer software skills Microsoft Office and SQL.
• Good oral and written proficiency in English, Bahasa Malaysia.
• Ability to liaise and communicate effectively with overseas suppliers, including China-based vendors.

Responsibilities

• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors for construction materials, M&E items and process equipment.
• Obtain quotations and prepare comparison summaries (price, quality, delivery, terms).
• Identify and evaluate new suppliers and subcontractors.
• Ensure procurement complies with budget, specification, and timeline.
• Coordinate with vendors for timely delivery and resolve any delivery or quality issues.
• Site & Logistics Coordination with Project Managers, Site Engineers, and QS to understand material requirements and schedules.
• Issue and follow up on Purchase Orders and delivery schedules.
• Work with engineers to clarify technical queries with vendors.
• Prepare monthly procurement reports and forecasts.
