About the role
The Main Contractor of Property Development Industry is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager (Main Contractor) to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time position based in Johor Bahru District, Johor, where you will take on a strategic leadership role overseeing large-scale construction projects from inception through to completion.
Applicant with lesser experience will also be encouraged to apply for the other suitable positions.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and manage all aspects of construction projects including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation
- Oversee site operations and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Manage and supervise construction teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to project specifications
- Monitor project progress, track expenditures, and implement corrective actions to maintain timelines and budgets
- Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to maintain effective communication and resolve issues promptly
- Conduct site inspections and quality audits to verify that all work meets contractual requirements and industry standards
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, reports, and records
- Ensure all safety protocols and risk management procedures are implemented and consistently followed on site
- Manage contractual matters and variations, ensuring documentation is accurate and disputes are resolved efficiently
- Mentor junior site staff and contribute to the professional development of the construction team
What we're looking for
- Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in construction management with at least 5 years in a senior management capacity on major high rise building construction projects
- Proven track record of successfully managing projects with budgets exceeding RM 50 million
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, techniques, and industry best practices
- Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities with experience managing stakeholder relationships
- In-depth understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and best practices in Malaysia
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
