Job summary

ICHOR Systems Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Senior CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Shah Alam, Malaysia. You will set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and multi-axis machines, reading engineering drawings and GD&T, performing precision inspection and troubleshooting process issues.

You will also guide junior machinists and fitters, support continuous improvement, and work a 12-hour day/night shift with overtime and weekend flexibility when required.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate in machining, engineering or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of machining experience in CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis.
• Strong CNC setup and operating skills.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and GD&T.
• Proficient with precision measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and multi-axis machines with minimal supervision.
• Install, set up, and adjust tooling offsets, fixtures, and machine offsets.
• Meet daily production targets while maintaining part quality.
• Load programs and prove out new FAI jobs.
• Troubleshoot machining issues with supervisors and inspectors.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and documentation.
• Inspect in-process and finished parts with precision instruments.
• Provide coaching and training to junior machinists and fitters.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on machines.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Senior CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Shah Alam, Malaysia, supporting the production of high-precision components for the semiconductor industry. In this role, you will independently set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and multi-axis machines, interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T requirements, perform precision inspection, and troubleshoot machining and process issues. You will also provide technical guidance to junior machinists and support continuous improvement initiatives. This is a 12-hour day/night shift role, with flexibility to support overtime and weekend work when required.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and multi-axis machines with minimal supervision according to Work Instructions and Tooling Lists.

Install, set up, and adjust tooling offsets, fixtures, work holding, and machine offsets.

Meet daily production targets while maintaining consistent part quality.

Load programs and safely prove out new FAI jobs.

Troubleshoot machining issues and work with supervisors, CAD/CAM programmers, and Quality Inspectors to resolve problems.

Read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.

Inspect in-process and finished parts using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring tools.

Provide technical guidance, coaching, and on-the-job training to junior CNC machinists and fitters.

Perform routine preventive maintenance on machines.

Requirements

Diploma or Certificate in machining, engineering or equivalent.

At least 5 years of machining experience in CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis.

Strong CNC setup and operating skills.

Ability to read and understand technical drawing and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Proficient with precision measuring instruments.

Strong attention to detail and quality mindset.

Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Good hand–eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Experience in high-precision or high-mix/low-volume environment is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to guide and mentor junior machinists and fitters.

Experience with Haas, Fanuc, Heidenhain, or similar controls is preferred.

Able to commit to a 12-hour day/night shift, including weekends, and support overtime when required.
