Confidential in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs that power product operations and internal platforms.

You will own technical design for complex features, engineer for performance and fault tolerance, mentor juniors, and collaborate with product, frontend, QA and DevOps to raise engineering standards.

This role emphasizes AI-assisted development using modern tooling and sustained focus on reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years hands-on backend development with ownership of production services.
• Strong practical experience with C# and .NET Core/.NET.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design, HTTP, service integrations, and backend system design.
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and SQL optimization; NoSQL familiarity is a plus.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, thread-safe code and design for data consistency, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Experience diagnosing performance issues and resolving incidents in live systems.
• Clear communication skills and ability to make technical decisions across teams.

Responsibilities

• Backend Service Development: Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs.
• Operational Workflow Engineering: Build reliable workflows for configuration, data processing, and platform integrations.
• Technical Ownership: Own technical design and delivery for complex features, including code reviews and production rollout.
• Performance & Concurrency Optimization: Improve service performance, queries, concurrency, and availability.
• Production Incident Management: Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement fixes.
• AI-Assisted Development: Leverage AI coding tools to boost productivity and explore AI-driven development workflows.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with product, frontend, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver backend features.
• Mentorship & Standards: Mentor junior engineers and improve engineering standards.
