You will design, build, and scale backend services and APIs, define service boundaries, optimize performance, and mentor other engineers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production backend design and maintenance.
• Strong fundamentals regardless of language/framework.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and service communication patterns.
• Good understanding of relational databases, indexing, transactions.
• Experience with caching, queues, background processing and async work.
• Knowledge of distributed systems concepts like consistency and fault tolerance.
• Experience with microservices or SOA architectures.
• Familiarity with cloud-based environments and observability.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high‑performance backend systems.
• Evolve backend architectures as product and traffic grow.
• Build services, APIs, libraries, and reusable components.
• Decide on service boundaries, data ownership, caching, persistence.
• Translate business requirements into technical architecture.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and improve API and database performance.
• Evaluate technologies based on engineering trade-offs.
• Define standards and patterns for maintainability and reliability.
• Mentor other engineers through technical discussions and reviews.
