Job summary

Flintex Consulting Pte Ltd in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead automation machine development for connector manufacturing. You will design high-speed equipment, ensure manufacturability, and collaborate across Product Design, Process Engineering and suppliers.

The role requires 8+ years in mechanical design or automation, with strong leadership and proficiency in 3D CAD (CREO Direct or SolidWorks) and experience in high-precision manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of mechanical design or automation machine-development experience.
• Experience in designing high-speed terminal stitching, gang insertion or connector assembly equipment is strongly preferred.
• Experience in the connector/electronics/semiconductor or other high-precision manufacturing industry is desirable.
• Proficient in mechanical design, machine mechanisms, material selection, tolerance analysis, and engineering calculations.
• Proficient with 3D CAD tools such as CREO Direct or SolidWorks; motion simulation/CAE tools are a plus.
• Familiar with servo motors, pneumatic systems, linear-motion systems, indexing/cam mechanisms, feeders, sensors, machine vision and robotic handling.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, project-management and cross-functional communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the development of automation equipment, assembly machines, tooling and inspection systems for connector manufacturing.
• Design reliable and cost-effective automation machines meeting production requirements.
• Develop high-speed terminal stitching and insertion equipment with feeding, handling and in-process detection.
• Perform mechanical design activities including 3D modelling, drawings, tolerance analysis and design risk assessment.
• Collaborate with Product Design, Process Engineering, Electrical Controls, Manufacturing, Quality and suppliers to define equipment specs and DFM requirements.
• Lead machine-development projects from concept through production handover, achieving cycle time, yield, capability, reliability, cost and timeline targets.
