The Senior Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Manager in overseeing the overall estate operation and coordinating key operational, administrative, compliance, sustainability, financial, asset, workshop, and special project matters.
The position serves as an important coordination link between the Senior Manager, Assistant Managers, operational teams, support functions, and relevant external parties. The role ensures that estate-wide matters are properly coordinated, monitored, followed up, and reported to Management where necessary.
The key functions and responsibilities include:
- a. Assist the Senior Manager in overseeing and coordinating the overall estate operation.
- b. Work closely with Assistant Managers and operational teams on estate-wide matters.
- c. Monitor operational progress and follow up on matters requiring Management’s attention.
- d. Support the Senior Manager in implementing operational strategies, plans, and decisions.
2. Sustainability and MSPO
- a. Coordinate estate-wide sustainability requirements and initiatives.
- b. Coordinate matters relating to MSPO compliance, audits, documentation, and corrective actions.
- c. Monitor follow-up actions and liaise with relevant functions to ensure sustainability requirements are properly addressed.
3. Pest and Disease Management
- a. Coordinate estate-wide pest and disease monitoring and control activities.
- b. Monitor significant pest and disease issues and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- c. Consolidate relevant information and provide updates and recommendations to the Senior Manager.
4. Border and Boundary Matters
- a. Coordinate estate-wide border and boundary-related matters.
- b. Monitor issues relating to estate boundaries and coordinate appropriate follow-up with relevant parties.
- c. Escalate significant matters to the Senior Manager for further action where required.
- a. Assist the Senior Manager in monitoring estate-wide financial and budgetary matters.
- b. Coordinate budget-related information from the respective functions.
- c. Monitor expenditure and highlight significant financial matters or variances for Management's consideration.
6. Asset Management
- b. Monitor asset utilisation, maintenance, movement, repair, replacement, and disposal.
- c. Ensure appropriate records and controls are maintained in accordance with company requirements.
7. Workshop, Machinery and Equipment
- a. Coordinate workshop and machinery-related matters across the estate.
- b. Monitor maintenance programmes, machinery breakdowns, repairs, and equipment availability.
- c. Coordinate with operational teams to support the effective utilisation and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
8. Special Projects
- a. Coordinate special projects and assignments entrusted by Management.
- b. Monitor project progress, implementation, resources, costs, and timelines.
- c. Coordinate with relevant internal departments, contractors, and external parties where required.
9. Management Coordination and Reporting
- a. Consolidate operational and management information from various functions.
- b. Provide timely updates to the Manager on significant estate-wide matters.
- c. Follow up on Management decisions and agreed actions.
- d. Assist in identifying operational issues, risks, and areas requiring improvement.
REQUIRMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Plantation Management, Agribusiness, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in oil palm plantation operations and management.
- Experience in coconut plantation management and knowledge of drone/UAV mapping will be an added advantage.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Innovative, resourceful and able to work effectively in a challenging environment with limited resources.
- Willing to relocate and work in remote areas.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
