Keep the books for your clients, then automate the repetitive parts.
Accounting Studio is a Singapore accounting and corporate services firm. We look after bookkeeping, GST, payroll, corporate secretarial, unaudited financial statements and tax for a portfolio of Singapore companies. We are adding AI and automation to how we deliver that work, and we are hiring an accountant who will own client accounts and also turn what they learn on each account into working automations for that client and for the firm.
This is not a pure IT role or a pure bookkeeping role. You will close the books yourself, see where the time goes, and then design, build and roll out the fix.
The Mission
Deliver accurate, on-time accounting and compliance work for a portfolio of Singapore clients, and use AI and automation to cut manual processing time on those accounts. We want each client to receive faster and more reliable reporting at the end of your first year than they did at the start.
What Success Looks Like
First 10 days
- Learn our workflow, templates and Xero set-up, and take over an initial portfolio of client accounts.
- Complete your first monthly or quarterly close and GST submission to our review standard.
First 30 days
- Handle your full portfolio on your own, with deadlines met and review points reducing month on month.
- For each client, map where manual effort is spent, e.g. bank reconciliation, receipt capture, sales and platform reconciliation, payroll inputs, or reporting packs.
- Propose at least three automation ideas, ranked by hours saved against build effort, and deliver the first one live.
First 2 to 6 months
- Put automations into production across several client accounts, each with a written SOP, controls and a handover note so other team members can run it.
- Show a measurable reduction in processing time (target 50–75% on automated workflows) with no drop in accuracy.
- Be the active player within the team on AI tools. Run short internal demos and share reusable prompts and templates.
- Bring automation ideas to client conversations so that clients see the improvement as added value.
Key Responsibilities
A. Client accounting and compliance (core, about 60%)
- Handle full sets of accounts, monthly or quarterly closing, and GST F5 filing for a portfolio of clients.
- Handle payroll and CPF submissions.
- Handle administrative tasks for client when required
- Prepare unaudited financial statements under SFRS / SFRS for Small Entities, and XBRL filing.
- Prepare corporate tax computations and support Form C-S / C filings.
- Handle audit work, and liaise with clients, external auditors and tax advisors.
B. AI and automation, from idea to execution (about 40%)
- Spot automation opportunities while working on each client account. Document the current process, its pain points and the volume involved.
- Design and build solutions using AI assistants (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot), Xero features and add-ons (bank rules, Dext/Hubdoc, integrations), Excel Power Query / macros, and workflow tools (e.g. Power Automate, Zapier, Make). Python or scripting is a plus.
- Test automations against actual results by reconciling outputs to source documents before go-live, and build review checkpoints into every workflow.
- Write SOPs, train colleagues, and maintain a library of the firm's automations and prompts.
- Apply responsible-AI practices: protect client confidentiality (PDPA), use only approved tools for client data, and keep a human review on all filings and client deliverables.
- Track and report results, e.g. hours saved, error rates, and turnaround times.
C. Others
- Any other ad hoc assignments.
