Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The role focuses on financial accounting and reporting in line with MFRS and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's in Accountancy or Finance, CA/CPA or equivalent, and bring 5+ years in financial accounting, with strong Excel and ERP skills. Manufacturing sector exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or Finance required.
  • CA/CPA or equivalent highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years in financial accounting and reporting in a full-time role.
  • Strong knowledge of MFRS and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Advanced MS Excel and financial analysis tools.
  • Understanding of internal controls, audit processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration.
  • Experience in supervising and developing junior staff.
  • Manufacturing/industrial sector experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with MFRS and other applicable standards.
  • Manage general ledger operations, including reconciliations, journal entries, and account management.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure audit readiness and respond to audit queries.
  • Maintain and improve financial accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Analyse financial variances and prepare explanations and reports for management.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities to support financial planning.
  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance on accounting treatments and best practices.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and resolve accounting issues.
