Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in line with MFRS. The role covers GL, AP/AR, and coordination with auditors, with emphasis on internal controls and compliance.

The candidate should have a minimum of 5 years in financial accounting, solid ERP and Excel skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff. Manufacturing sector experience is preferred, offering growth and learning opportunities within a dynamic finance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field.
  • CA/CPA qualification highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting within a full-time role.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
  • Excellent understanding of internal controls, audit processes, and financial compliance requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Proven ability to supervise and develop junior team members.
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial sectors is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and other applicable accounting standards.
  • Manage general ledger operations, including reconciliations, journal entries, and account management.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure audit readiness and respond to audit queries.
  • Maintain and improve financial accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Analyse financial variances and prepare explanations and reports for management.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities to support financial planning.
  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance on accounting treatments and best practices.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and resolve accounting issues.
