Job summary

Procurement & Contracts in Kuala Lumpur seeks a seasoned financial accountant to lead accounting and reporting functions. You will ensure compliance with MFRS, manage GL, AP/AR, and coordinate with auditors while driving policy improvements.

The role requires 5+ years' experience, a relevant bachelor's degree, and preferably a CA/CPA or equivalent. ERP proficiency and strong Excel skills are essential; manufacturing sector experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field.
  • CA/CPA or equivalent qualification highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of MFRS and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Advanced Excel and financial analysis tools.
  • Understanding of internal controls, audit processes, and compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across teams.
  • Experience supervising and developing junior staff.
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial sectors preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements per MFRS.
  • Manage general ledger operations, reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Oversee AP/AR functions with timely processing of transactions.
  • Coordinate with auditors for readiness and queries.
  • Maintain and improve financial policies and internal controls.
  • Analyze variances and prepare management explanations.
  • Assist budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff.
  • Ensure timely filing of tax returns and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting issues.

  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure audit readiness and respond to audit queries

  • Maintain and improve financial accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls

  • Analyse financial variances and prepare explanations and reports for management

  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities to support financial planning

  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance on accounting treatments and best practices

  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns and compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and resolve accounting issues
