Job summary

Kawan Green Energy Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a driven Sales Application & Proposal Engineer to join our team. You will drive the commercial bidding process, translating chemical engineering data into competitive technical proposals, cost estimates, and quotes for clients.

Responsibilities include drafting and structuring proposals, costing, reviewing contract terms for risk, generating formal quotes, and coordinating with suppliers and the sales team to deliver accurate, profitable bids.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or related field.
• Open to fresh graduates or junior professionals with up to 3 years of relevant experience.
• Strong analytical thinking to identify optimization opportunities in complex data.
• Detail-oriented with ability to review contracts and cost spreadsheets.
• Excellent communication across multicultural global teams and with clients.

Responsibilities

• Proposal & Bid Management: Draft, compile, and structure technical and commercial proposals for clients, ensuring all engineering specifications align with client requirements.
• Costing & Estimation: Perform detailed cost estimation, including material take-offs, equipment sizing costs, sub-contractor quotes, and internal resource allocation.
• Contract & Risk Review: Review technical specifications, commercial terms, and tender documents to identify operational risks and unfavorable clauses.
• Client Quoting & Commercial Support: Generate formal quotes, manage revisions, and assist sales during technical presentations.
• Vendor & Supply Chain Liaison: Source and negotiate quotes from equipment suppliers and sub-contractors to build an accurate costing base.

Position Overview

We are seeking a driven, detail-oriented Sales Application & Proposal Engineer to join our team in Kuala Lumpur.

In this role, you will be the core engine driving our commercial bidding process. You will translate complex chemical engineering, energy utilization, and modeling data into competitive technical proposals, accurate cost estimations, and sound commercial quotes for our clients.

What You Will Do

Beyond typing proposals and reading contracts, a high-performing engineer in this role will handle the following expanded responsibilities:

• Proposal & Bid Management: Draft, compile, and structure technical and commercial proposals for clients, ensuring all engineering specifications align with client requirements.
• Costing & Estimation: Perform detailed cost estimation, including material take-offs, equipment sizing costs, sub-contractor quotes, and internal resource allocation to ensure profitable yet competitive pricing.
• Contract & Risk Review: Review technical specifications, commercial terms, and tender documents to identify operational risks, stringent Liquidated Damages (LD) clauses, or unfavorable payment terms before submission.
• Client Quoting & Commercial Support: Generate formal quotes, manage revisions based on client feedback, and assist the sales team during technical presentation and clarification meetings.
• Vendor & Supply Chain Liaison: Source and negotiate technical quotes from equipment suppliers and sub-contractors to build an accurate costing base.

About You (Skills and Qualifications)

Education: Bachelor’s or Degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related energy/process discipline.

Experience: Open to fresh graduates or junior professionals; less than 3 years of relevant work experience is highly encouraged to apply.

Analytical Skills: Strong foundation in innovative and analytical thinking, with the ability to spot optimization opportunities in complex data.

Commercial Acumen: A keen eye for numbers, detail-oriented when checking contract clauses, and comfortable handling financial spreadsheets for costing.

Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multi-cultural global teams and present clearly to clients.
