Job summary

EP Engineering Services Pte Ltd seeks a Site Safety Officer to oversee safety on construction sites. You will conduct inspections, develop safety plans and provide inductions to workers, ensuring adherence to Malaysian regulations and company safety standards.

The role requires 1+ year of experience, NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent qualifications, and strong communication skills. A proactive, detail-oriented approach and the ability to lead safety initiatives on diverse sites are essential.

Qualifications

• Valid Yellow Book holder registered with DOSH.
• NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent safety qualification recognized in Malaysia.
• Minimum 1 year of site safety experience in construction.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian safety regulations and building codes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in safety documentation and reporting systems.
• Ability to work independently on dynamic site environments.
• Valid driving licence advantageous.
• Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and safety risks
• Develop, implement and monitor site-specific safety plans and procedures
• Provide safety inductions and toolbox talks to all workers on site
• Investigate workplace incidents, accidents and near-misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with all local health, safety and environmental regulations and legislation
• Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, near-misses, training and inspections
• Liaise with project managers, contractors and subcontractors to promote and reinforce safety culture
• Coordinate personal protective equipment (PPE) distribution and ensure proper usage on site
• Monitor and manage hazardous materials handling and waste disposal procedures
• Respond promptly to safety concerns and implement corrective and preventative measures
• Prepare safety reports and present findings to site management and senior stakeholders

Requirements and Skills

• Valid Yellow Book holder with registered with Department of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH).
• Recognized qualification in health, safety and environmental management (such as NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent qualification recognized in Malaysia)
• Minimum 1 years’ experience in site safety or health and safety role within construction
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian health and safety regulations, building codes and construction standards
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage workers at all levels
• Proven ability to investigate incidents and implement preventative measures
• Proficiency in safety documentation, record-keeping and reporting systems
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in dynamic site environments
• Physical fitness and ability to spend considerable time on construction sites
• Competency in using relevant safety software and tools
• Valid driving license is advantageous
• Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within construction is preferred
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other office software
• A keen eye for detail and the ability to work accurately and efficiently
• A positive and proactive attitude, with a willingness to assist and support the team
