Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking an experienced Safety Officer to develop and implement safety policies in line with the OSH Framework and Regulations. You will monitor changing legal requirements and drive the Safety Management System across site and HQ.

The role focuses on hazard identification, risk assessment, and pro-active control measures, ensuring subcontractors meet SMS requirements and maintaining documentation for DOSH and HQ.

Qualifications

• Valid Yellow Book certificate registered with DOSH.
• Knowledge of OSH frameworks and regulations.
• Experience implementing SMS on-site and at HQ.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing safety policies aligned with OSH FMA and regulations.
• Review and monitor evolving legal and compliance requirements.
• Implement Safety Management System requirements at site and HQ.
• Identify hazards, assess risks and apply control measures.
• Ensure subcontractors meet SMS requirements.
• Review HIRARC and Job Hazard Analysis prior to execution.
• Maintain Emergency Response Plan information and distribute updates.
• Conduct site safety inspections and recommend corrective actions.
• Submit Monthly Safety Reports and DOHS-related documentation.
• Liaise with DOSH, Police and other agencies on health and safety matters.

This role involves developing and implementing safety policies in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Framework and Regulations. You will monitor legal and compliance requirements, implement Safety Management System requirements, and work proactively to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement control measures.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Company in developing safety policies in compliance with the OSH FMA and its regulations


• Review and monitor latest legal and other compliance requirements and update accordingly


• Implement the requirements of the Safety Management System at site and headquarters


• Take pro-active measures to identify hazards, assess risks and implement suitable control measures


• Ensure subcontractors comply with Safety Management System requirements


• Review all HIRARC and Job Hazard Analysis before execution


• Maintain Emergency Response Plan information and ensure relevant communication is distributed


• Conduct site safety inspections and recommend corrective actions for unsafe acts and conditions


• Submit Monthly Safety Reports, Safety Statistics, and other required documentation to DOSH and HQ


• Liaise with DOSH, Police and other relevant government agencies on health, safety and security matters

About you

• Valid Yellow Book holder registered with Department of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH)


• At least 1 working experience at site and/or assignment exposure


• Familiar with standard concepts and best practices for construction/substation/environment for both safety and administration


• Good writing and verbal communication skills in both English and Bahasa


• Keen attention to detail and ability to effectively manage time


• Team work capability


• Valid driving license


• Able to work irregular hours to accomplish urgent assignments when requested
