Job summary

SHL Consolidated Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a Safety Officer to lead functional safety management across operations, ensuring compliance with OSHA and DOE requirements while coordinating with regulators.

You will supervise on-site activities, inspect machinery, conduct risk assessments, maintain safety systems, and deliver training to staff.

Qualifications

• Candidate must possess at least a Diploma / NIOSH Certificate or equivalent.
• Experienced in construction industry
• Competent and well-versed with the latest Occupational Health & Safety Act

Responsibilities

• Carry out functional safety management work such as control, monitor, enforce, implement, coordinate, maintain and improve Occupational Safety, Health & Environmental related matters.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies (DOSH, NIOSH, DOE, BOMBA, MOH, JKJR, etc.) to ensure compliance with all legal requirements.
• Maintain, enforce and improve safety related matters with respect to DOSH requirements & other global standards.
• On-site supervision, screening SOPs, and ensure machines and equipment are safe for operation.
• Inspect, maintain and ensure firefighting equipment is in function.
• Lead safety audits and investigate incidents to prevent recurrence.
• Gather, analyse and maintain statistics on accidents and hazards in the workplace.
• In-house training / induction / briefing to employees.

Job description

To carry out functional safety management work such as control, monitor, enforce, implement, coordinate, maintain and improve Occupational Safety, Health & Environmental related matters;

Liaise with regulatory bodies (DOSH, NIOSH, DOE, BOMBA, MOH, JKJR, etc.) to ensure compliance with all legal requirements;

Maintain, enforce & improve safety related matters with respect to Department Occupational Safety & Health Malaysia requirements & other global standards

On-site supervision, screening the standard operating procedure, and ensure the condition of all machines and equipment are safe for operation;

Inspect, maintain and ensure the firefighting equipment is in function;

Supervise and review the issue after inspection, find out the solution to eliminate incident and hazards happen again in future;

Maintain the safety management system and liaise with relevant parties on matters relating to all OSHA requirements

Lead the implementation of safety & health procedures according to the standards and conduct safety audits as necessary

Identify, investigate and report on incidents & accidents root causes and conduct risk assessment and facilitate training for staff with respect towards all safety issues

Ensure operation quality and safety standard compliance with all legal requirements

Responsible in the overall safety & health activities in the organisation

Gather, analyse and maintain statistics on any accident, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning / disease which have occurred at the work place

Waste management including monitor and inspect the equipment, ensure safety standards have met the requirement of DOE;

Inhouse training / Induction / Briefing to employee

Other duties assigned by superior or manager

Requirement:

Candidate must possess at least a Diploma / NIOSH Certificate or equivalent.

Experienced in construction industry

Competent and well-versed with the latest Occupational Health & Safety Act
