Job summary

Torto Food Industries (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Health and Safety Officer to ensure plant safety, health, and security in line with regulatory requirements. You will implement safety programs, conduct inspections, and lead risk assessments across all operations.

The role involves coordinating with OSHA, DOSH, BOMBA, and other authorities, and delivering mandatory safety inductions and training to staff and contractors. Excellent communication and a proactive attitude are essential.

Qualifications

• Candidate must hold a Certificate in Safety Coordinator and a Diploma or Degree in Business (or related field).
• At least 1–2 years of relevant working experience in safety, health, or related roles.
• Able to communicate effectively with people at all levels and maintain strong interpersonal relations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain plant safety, health, and security in compliance with OSHA regulations.
• Raise safety, health, and security issues to management and propose control measures.
• Inspect the workplace for hazards in machinery, equipment, substances, and processes.
• Carry out weekly factory inspections to ensure OSHA/DOSH compliance.
• Review HIRARC periodically for projects and ongoing operations.
• Collect and analyze accident, near-miss, poisoning, and disease statistics.
• Coordinate with OSHA, DOSH, BOMBA, DOE, and other authorities.
• Oversee fire extinguishers, firefighting equipment, and CCTV systems.
• Supervise security guards per SOP and conduct annual safety inductions.
• Liaise with local authorities and carry out other assignments as needed.

Job description

Responsible for maintaining plant safety & health, and security at a high level of compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Regulation 1994, while organizing and implementing occupational safety and health programs at the workplace.

Raise issues relating to safety & health, and security at the workplace to the management and propose control measures to eliminate/ minimize the risk to the plant operation.

Inspect the workplace to determine whether any machinery, plant, equipment, substance, appliance, or process or any description of manual labour used in the workplace is liable to cause bodily injury to any person working in the workplace.

Carry out weekly factory inspections and take necessary action to ensure compliance with OSHA & DOSH Act.

Conduct periodic reviews of Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC), including project sites.

Collect, analyse, and maintain statistics on accidents, dangerous occurrences, occupational poisoning, and occupational diseases that occur in the workplace.

Carry out any other instruction made by OSHA, DOSH, BOMBA, and management on matters relating to workplace safety and health.

Oversee the renewal and maintenance of fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment.

Oversee the company's CCTV system and advise management on areas not covered by CCTV.

Supervise and ensure that security guards perform their duties in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

Conduct Safety and Health Induction for new employees and contractors, and provide mandatory safety training at least once a year.

Liaise with local authorities such as JKKP, BOMBA, DOSH, DOE, and other related bodies.

Responsible for any other assignments delegated by superiors from time to time.

Requirements:

Candidates must possess at least a Certificate in Safety Coordinator and a Diploma or Degree in Business or a related field.

At least 1-2 years of relevant working experience.

Able to communicate effectively with people at all levels.

Strong interpersonal skills with a pleasant personality and positive attitude.
