Job summary

INTRETECH (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. is seeking a Health and Safety Officer to lead OSH programs, conduct inspections, and ensure compliance across our Kulai manufacturing site.

Job description

The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and supporting the company's Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) programs, conducting workplace inspections, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization. This role plays a critical part in identifying workplace risks, preventing accidents, and ensuring compliance with Malaysian safety regulations and company standards.

Job Requirements:

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum 2-3 years of working experience in Occupational Safety & Health, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Registered Safety and Health Officer (Green Book) or equivalent certification is an added advantage.

Good knowledge of Malaysian Occupational Safety & Health regulations, DOSH requirements, and safety management systems.

Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), and ESG compliance is an advantage.

Experience in conducting safety inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, and compliance audits.

Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Able to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Key Responsibilities:

Implement and enforce Safety & Health policies and procedures in accordance with local regulations and industry standards.

Keep updated with the latest OSH regulatory requirements and recommend improvements where necessary.

Plan and conduct Safety & Health training, awareness programs, and emergency response drills.

Conduct workplace inspections, internal audits, risk assessments (HIRARC), and hazard analyses to identify potential safety risks.

Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate identified hazards.

Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, identify root causes, and prepare incident reports.

Maintain Safety & Health documentation, including training records, inspection reports, incident reports, and statutory records.

Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), and other applicable standards.

Monitor and enforce the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), machine guarding, permit-to-work systems, and workplace safety practices.

Coordinate and support internal and external safety audits and implement corrective action plans.

Liaise with government authorities such as DOSH, DOE, BOMBA, and other regulatory agencies on safety-related matters.

Manage chemical safety, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Chemical Hazard Risk Assessment (CHRA), chemical inventory, storage, handling, and waste management.

Organize and coordinate Emergency Response Team (ERT) activities, Safety & Health Committee meetings, and first aid programs.

Conduct regular factory inspections and monitor workplace compliance with Safety & Health requirements.

Prepare periodic safety reports and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.

Support supplier compliance activities related to company safety requirements and standards.
