Job summary

China Railway Oversea Engineering (M) Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a skilled shop drawing engineer to prepare and coordinate road, drainage, and sewerage drawings. You will work with Consultants, BIM teams, and现场 construction crews to ensure accurate documentation and approvals.

The role requires 2+ years of relevant experience, strong English and Mandarin, and the ability to read construction drawings and BIM models. On-site work sequence and project requirements must be followed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in roadworks, external works, stormwater drainage and sewerage works.
• Experience in preparing and revising shop drawings for external roads, stormwater drainage and sewerage networks.
• Able to communicate independently with the Consultant, understand comments and revise shop drawings until approval.
• Good command of English and Chinese (Mandarin).
• Able to read and understand construction drawings and BIM models.
• Willing to work on site and follow the actual construction sequence and project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare shop drawings for roadworks, drainage, and sewerage networks.
• Coordinate with Consultant and revise drawings until approval is obtained.
• Develop site-based shop drawings from actual site conditions.
• Coordinate with Site Engineers, BIM Team and construction crew.
• Review drawings for discrepancies and raise RFIs when needed.
• Prepare road and drainage details including manholes and pipelines.
• Review BIM models for clashes and coordinate with other elements.
• Provide construction support and update as-built docs.

Job Responsibilities

Shop Drawing Preparation
Prepare detailed shop drawings for external roadworks, drainage, stormwater and sewerage networks based on the Consultant’s Construction Drawings and project requirements.

Consultant Coordination and Approval
Communicate independently with the Consultant regarding technical requirements, drawing details and comments, and revise and resubmit shop drawings until approval is obtained.

Site-Based Shop Drawing Development
Prepare shop drawings based on actual site conditions, including existing levels, structures, utilities and site constraints. Shop drawings shall be developed progressively and in sections according to the actual construction sequence and site progress.

Coordination with Site Team
Coordinate closely with the Site Engineers, Surveyors, BIM Team and construction team to ensure that the shop drawings are practical, accurate and suitable for site execution.

Drawing Review and Technical Coordination
Review Construction Drawings and identify discrepancies, missing information, clashes or technical issues before and during shop drawing preparation. Raise RFIs or technical queries when necessary.

Road and Drainage Details
Prepare and coordinate drawings for road alignment, road levels, pavement works, kerbs, drains, manholes, culverts, stormwater drainage and sewerage pipelines, including relevant details and connections.

BIM / Model Coordination
Review and coordinate BIM models to verify levels, dimensions, alignment and potential clashes between external works and other building or infrastructure elements.

Construction Support
Provide technical support to the site team during construction and clarify drawing-related issues to ensure that works are carried out in accordance with the approved shop drawings and Consultant’s requirements.

As-Built Documentation
Assist in updating drawings based on actual site conditions and provide necessary information for as-built drawings and project handover documentation.

Job Requirements

Relevant Experience
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in roadworks, external works, stormwater drainage and sewerage works, with proven experience in preparing shop drawings.

Shop Drawing Experience
Must have practical experience preparing and revising shop drawings for external roads, stormwater drainage and sewerage networks.

Consultant Coordination
Able to communicate independently with the Consultant, understand their comments and requirements, and revise shop drawings accordingly until approval is obtained.

Language Skills
Good command of English and Chinese (Mandarin). Able to communicate effectively with Consultants, site teams and Chinese management.

Construction Drawing Interpretation
Able to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, details, levels, dimensions and relevant technical information.

BIM / Computer Skills
Able to review and navigate BIM models for drawing coordination and site verification. Familiarity with AutoCAD and BIM software such as Navisworks, Revit or similar software is an advantage.

Site Experience
Candidates with actual site experience in external works, roadworks, drainage or sewerage construction will be preferred.

Problem-Solving Ability
Able to identify drawing discrepancies, coordinate technical issues and propose practical solutions based on actual site conditions.

Teamwork and Communication
Good communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with Consultants, Surveyors, BIM teams, Site Engineers, subcontractors and other project departments.

Working Attitude
Responsible, proactive and able to work independently. Willing to work on site and follow the actual construction sequence and project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience in Malaysia construction projects is an advantage.

Experience with PAM / local construction standards and Consultant approval procedures is an advantage.
