Job summary

UEM Edgenta Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a senior Civil Engineer with extensive highway construction experience to join the project delivery team.

You will supervise site activities, ensure compliance with drawings and standards, coordinate with contractors and authorities, and provide technical guidance.

This role requires PE registration with BEM, a civil engineering degree, and a track record of leading complex road projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 15 years total experience or 12 years in road/highway construction.
• Proven highway/roadworks construction, site supervision and project delivery.
• Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) as a Professional Engineer (PE).
• Strong technical, project management and stakeholder coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in planning, design and construction supervision of highway works.
• Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, quality standards and contractual requirements.
• Coordinate with Work Package Contractors (WPC), consultants, SOR, project teams, landowners, relevant authorities and other external stakeholders on technical matters.
• Provide technical guidance and direction to the site team, ensuring effective coordination between consultants, contractors and project personnel.
• Review and provide technical input on method statements, material submissions, shop drawings, design changes and other contractor submissions.
• Monitor quality, HSSE and construction compliance, including reviewing QA plans, HSSE documentation, traffic management plans, safety/incident reports and issuing NCRs or stop-work instructions where necessary.
• Monitor project progress against the approved schedule, identify potential delays and recommend mitigation measures.
• Verify completed works and support the evaluation of contractor progress claims, including coordination with the QS and SOR on work done and interim claims.
• Prepare and maintain project reports, site records, progress updates, site diaries and other relevant documentation.
• Provide recommendations and technical support for Variation Orders, design changes, project completion certificates and acceptance of as-built drawings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 15 years of overall experience, or 12 years of strong roadworks/highway construction experience.
• Proven experience in highway/roadworks construction, site supervision and project delivery.
• Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) as a Professional Engineer (PE).
• Strong technical, project management and stakeholder coordination skills, with the ability to lead site teams and manage complex construction activities.
