Job summary

MOH PHARMACEUTICAL TECHNOLOGIES SDN BHD (MOHPHARMA) is seeking an R&D Manager to lead formulation and development of nutraceutical and functional food products.

The role focuses on revamping existing ranges, ensuring safety, quality, Halal compliance, and supplier qualification, while driving profitable product development.” The candidate will collaborate with Marketing and Regulatory teams, source materials, conduct material and market analyses, and manage the end-to-end product development

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science & Technology, Food Technology, Nutrition, Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead formulation and development of new product concepts and revamp existing range.
• Screen raw materials for safety, quality, Halal compliance, supplier qualification, and other specifications.
• Ensure efficient and profitable management of the product development process including supplier liaison and price negotiation.
• Source raw materials for new product applications.
• Conduct R&D on raw materials and products to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Conduct sensory evaluation and analysis on new and existing products.
• Perform market analysis to align new products with brand stories and market needs.
• Track consumer needs and competitor performance.
• Stay updated on trends to identify new product development opportunities.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Regulatory/Quality teams on priorities and compliance.

Research & Development Executive role focused on leading the formulation and development of new product concepts, including ongoing revamp of existing range. The position involves product screening for safety, quality, Halal compliance, and supplier qualification, with responsibility for efficient and profitable management of the product development process.

Key responsibilities

Lead the formulation and development of new product concepts (including ongoing revamp of existing range)

Product-screen the safety, quality, Halal compliance, supplier qualification and other specifications of raw material

Ensure efficient and profitable management of the product development process including supplier liaison and price negotiation

Source raw materials for new product applications

Conduct research and development on raw materials and products to ensure compliance to specifications and regulations

Conduct sensory evaluation and analysis on both new products and existing products

Perform ongoing market analysis to keep new products with strong brand stories that comply with market needs

Track consumer needs and competitor performance

Keep abreast with forthcoming trends to identify new product development opportunities

Work closely with the marketing team and Regulatory and Quality compliance department on priorities and compliance issues

About you

Bachelor's Degree in Food Science & Technology, Food Technology, Nutrition, Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or a related discipline

Minimum 2–3 years' experience in Research & Development, preferably in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, functional food, or FMCG industry

Knowledge of product formulation, raw material evaluation, and new product development processes

Good understanding of GMP, HACCP, Halal requirements, and relevant Malaysian regulatory requirements

Good command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Strong product formulation and product development skills

Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

Good project management and time management skills

Strong negotiation and supplier management abilities
