Job summary

Agilent Technologies LDA Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Demand Planning Data Scientist to build predictive models and provide actionable insights for demand forecasting across geographies. You will collaborate with IBP demand planners to generate reliable forecasts that guide inventory and supply plans.

You will lead the team in ensuring data model quality, refreshing models, and communicating gains to business partners across commercial, finance, and global operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Typically, at least 10+ years of experience in data science or equivalent work experience.
• Extensive knowledge in predictive modeling, machine learning, and statistical analysis.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or SQL.
• Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Spotfire or similar.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong executive presence and leadership skills.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in business planning and forecasting; Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud); Knowledge of advanced ML techniques and frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Develop Statistical Forecasts: Lead the development and implementation of predictive models to forecast product orders across geographies.
• Assist Demand Planner(s) with Root Cause Analysis: Investigate forecast accuracy, bias, and value add to identify issues.
• Evaluate IBP Deviations: Discuss how last month's IBP deviations impact the current month's plan.
• Generate Analytical Insights: Design experiments to validate model performance and improve forecasting accuracy.
• Communicate Analytical Gains: Articulate benefits of productionizing models to business functions.
• Create and Validate Statistical Models: Develop models to test hypotheses and ensure production readiness.
• Model Complex Organizational Problems: Use statistical and visualization techniques to uncover insights in complex challenges.
• Educate on New Approaches: Inform organization about innovative analytical methodologies.
• Identify Data Science Opportunities: Recognize problems suitable for data science and communicate findings via visualizations.
• Strategic Data Recommendations: Advise on data collection and retention, aligning with business needs.
• Drive Innovation and Improvement: Stay updated with ML advancements to enhance forecasting capabilities.
