Job summary

Kiyo, a Kuala Lumpur-based company, is seeking a Backend Developer to build and maintain server-side logic and collaborate with front-end teams to deliver robust web applications.

The role requires at least 1 year of backend experience, solid Node.js knowledge, and hands-on work with Redis, MySQL or PostgreSQL, RESTful APIs, and security best practices. The team embraces a remote-friendly, fast-paced environment with an office in KL for on-site days.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in backend development
• Proficient in Node.js and its core principles
• Experience with Redis, MySQL or PostgreSQL databases
• Experience with RESTful API development and integration
• Understanding of authentication/authorization and security best practices
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain server-side web application logic
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic
• Design and implement data storage solutions using databases such as Redis, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
• Develop and maintain APIs to support both internal and external services
• Implement security and data protection measures to safeguard the application and its users
• Troubleshoot and debug issues that arise during development, testing, and deployment
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code that adheres to coding standards and best practices
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in backend development and related fields
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to other developers
