• Solid understanding of RESTful API design and web services architecture.

About the role

We are seeking a talented Backend Developer to join SwiftStack Solution Sdn. Bhd. in Kuala Lumpur on a full-time basis. This role is pivotal to our technology infrastructure, as you will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining the robust server-side systems that power our applications. As a Backend Developer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our services are scalable, secure and performant, directly contributing to the success of our business objectives and the satisfaction of our users.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend systems and APIs using modern programming languages and frameworks
• Write clean, maintainable and efficient code whilst adhering to coding standards and best practices
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members to ensure code quality
• Debug, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner
• Optimise database queries and improve application performance across the stack
• Implement security best practices and data protection measures within backend systems
• Document technical specifications, system architecture and development processes
• Continuously learn and stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends
• Contribute to the planning and estimation of development tasks and sprints

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline
• 2+ years of professional experience in backend development or software development
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Java, Python, Node.js, PHP, C# or Go
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design and web services architecture
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
• Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git
• Knowledge of software development methodologies and agile practices
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP), containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka) or microservices architecture
