Job summary

YONNY BRAND MANAGEMENT (MY) SDN. BHD. is seeking a Design Director to lead store design and project delivery in Malaysia and neighboring markets.

You will oversee design management, documentation, renderings, and standards while coordinating with Expansion, Construction, Operations, Supply Chain, and Marketing teams. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, 10+ years in commercial/restaurant/store design, and at least 5 years of people management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Commercial Space Design, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial, restaurant, or retail store design, with at least 5 years of team management experience.
• Strong experience in end-to-end restaurant store design, including concept development, approvals, construction coordination, and opening handover.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Photoshop, SketchUp, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, V-Ray, or similar design software.
• Experience in Southeast Asia, especially Malaysia, is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of materials, construction methods, project costs, and design implementation.
• Excellent project management, vendor management, and cross-functional communication skills.
• Willing to travel within Malaysia and other Southeast Asian markets.

Responsibilities

• Lead overall store design management in Malaysia, including project documents, construction drawings, renderings, and design standards.
• Manage design solutions for new stores, renovation projects, and non-standard store formats.
• Work closely with Expansion, Construction, Operations, Supply Chain, and Marketing teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Manage and evaluate local design agencies, contractors, suppliers, and other external partners.
• Develop and continuously improve regional store design standards, design manuals, material standards, and construction guidelines.
• Drive store design improvements based on operational and customer feedback.
• Lead and develop the regional design team, including performance management, coaching, and talent development.
• Support material selection, supplier evaluation, sample approval, and project implementation.
• Ensure projects meet brand standards, quality requirements, cost targets, and opening schedules.
• Travel within Malaysia and other Southeast Asian markets when required.
